The Ministry of National Defense of Romania announced a new campaign for the recruitment of people for voluntary military service to replenish the reserve, which will last from May 20 to June 27.

In military units throughout Romania, 4,936 places were prepared for the training of volunteer reservists – officers, military majors, non-commissioned officers, privates and soldiers.
Interested citizens are invited to contact the military commissariats to find out about the stages of selection, passing a medical examination and the military unit or training center where the initial training will take place.
Candidates who do not have military training will be offered recommendations for referral to the positions they are responsible for, the Romanian Ministry of Defense emphasizes. The department also reminded of the list of documents required for applying for service.
A law designed to improve the attractiveness of voluntary military service has been in force since 2021 in Romania. In particular, it provides for an increase in pay for volunteer reservists who do not take part in military operations.
The Romanian parliament is also to consider a draft law on voluntary basic military training, according to which citizens of both sexes between the ages of 18 and 35 years can, on their own initiative, sign up for basic military training for 4 months and also receive monetary compensation.
