The United States and Finland signed a statement of intent in the field of special operations

Assistant Secretary of Defense for Special Operations Operations and Low Intensity Conflicts Christopher Mayer met with Janne Kuusela, Director General of the Department of Defense Policy of the Finnish Ministry of Defense. The meeting was announced by the Pentagon.

Defense Department spokeswoman Lisa Lawrence said the purpose of the meeting was to sign a statement of intent related to special operations forces.

"This statement is based on close defense cooperation between the United States and Finland and lays the foundation for future expansion of joint capabilities",– Lawrence said.

"Through agreements such as this, the United States and Finland are trying to strengthen their bilateral relationship and increase special operations forces cooperation and interoperability,", – added Lawrence.
