KNDS presented a unique Serval tank with an ARX-30 turret: destroys all kinds of drones

At the Eurosatory exhibition, KNDS demonstrated a Serval equipped with an ARX-30 turret. The Serval, a multi-purpose light armored vehicle, is designed to the specifications of the French Army and is an integral part of the national emergency response echelon. Thanks to its high tactical and strategic mobility, this vehicle provides optimal protection, allowing troops to carry out their missions and quickly redeploy.

The versatile structure of the Serval chassis, developed by the French company TEXELS, allows the creation of 29 different variants, thus covering a wide range of missions and operational functions. Integrated into the SCORPION program, Serval uses common avionics systems developed in partnership with THALES that contribute to successful joint combat within an integrated battle group.

The Serval LAD model is specially equipped to combat UAVs (drones) thanks to the ARX-30 turret armed with a 30×113 mm gun. This gun, a land-based version of the model used on the Tiger helicopter, is a good replacement for the 12.7mm Remote Weapon Stations and 40mm Grenade Launchers, offering superior practical range and better ultimate effectiveness due to the variety of ammunition available.

< p>The ARX-30 turret adapts to a wide range of platforms, from 4×4 vehicles to additional weapons for tanks and robots, without major interference. This flexibility allows for effective targeting of light or weakly defended targets. The ARX-30 system can be offered in three versions to adapt its missions:

  • a basic model for ground targets;
  • a NEROD model combined with C-UAV weapons for jamming non-military drones;
  • C-UAV version with built-in radar for detection and identification of mini and micro UAVs.

Serval with a 375-horsepower engine develops a maximum speed of 100 km/h and has a range of more than 600 km. It can overcome 60% gradients, 700mm steps and 1.2m fords without prior training. Its operating weight varies from 15 to 17 tons, and the length – 6.50 meters, width – 2.53 meters, height to the roof – 2.46 meters.

The Serval is equipped with standard ballistic protection, protection against mines and improvised explosive devices, with optional additional protection kits and CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) protection. It is also equipped with the BARAGE jamming system and the SLA hit detection system, which increases its survivability on the battlefield.
