The German government cautiously reacted to the initiative of Greece and Poland to create a new European air defense system (ADF) on EU leaders.

Deputy spokeswoman Christiane Hoffmann said in Berlin that this initiative of the Greek and Polish prime ministers was taken into account.

She also mentioned the current German project to strengthen air defense in Europe “Sky Shield”, in which 21 countries already participate.

The day before, it was reported that the Prime Ministers of Greece Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Poland's Donald Tusk asked the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, to lead the initiative to create a joint air defense shield (APD), which would be financed by the EU.

Von der Leyen confirmed this proposal from the prime ministers of both countries. , when she again called for the creation of joint defense projects.

Earlier, Tusk announced an agreement with the European Investment Bank, according to which Poland will be able to attract up to 300 million euros for a satellite component to protect the sky.

Before with this, Polish President Andrzej Duda criticized the idea of ​​Poland's participation in the European air defense program “Sky Shield”, calling it a “German business project”.

Tusk replied that it did not matter to him, “who business has in matters of arms or defense”, and it is important that Poland is more secure.
