Apple Watch Series 10 should get a larger display and a thinner case

In the fall, Apple plans to introduce a new generation of smart watches – Watch Series 10, so new details about the upcoming gadgets are starting to appear on the Web little by little. Recent reports hint that this year's Apple Watch Series 10 will have a thinner body and larger display compared to previous models.

In his review, renowned analyst and insider Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that future Apple Watch sizes will increase from the current 41mm and 45mm to around 45mm and 49mm, but will be thinner. This will mean a noticeable shift in the approach to design. If true, the new smaller smartwatches will essentially match the larger Series 9, while the larger Series 10 model will be slightly closer to the Watch Ultra's screen size. Despite this, the Ultra will still be distinguished by a slightly bulkier design, which includes a thicker titanium bezel and a prominent crown.

Speaking about the Watch Ultra, the analyst noted that they have no major changes planned this year. True, there is a possibility that the device will receive a new body color, but only under certain conditions. “Technical characteristics of the model Apple Watch Ultra will remain approximately the same. If the production volumes meet expectations, new color variants of the case (black/dark) may appear, – he noted.

The tech giant reportedly planned to use 3D printing technology in the production of components for its smartwatches later this year. Technology before  successfully passed the test, and the production efficiency became higher. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, BLT will be a supplier of 3D-printed components.

The rumors of a thinner body coincide with reports from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who suggested that virtually all future Apple products – iPhone, Watch and MacBook Pro – will have a thinner design, following the trend set by the iPad Pro M4 (2024). In addition, insiders increasingly began to talk about the modernization of the hardware part of smart watches. In particular, there is a new magnetic strap fastening system aimed at reducing the thickness of the case.

As the release of the Series 10 coincides with the 10th anniversary of the series, there is speculation that it may be called the Apple Watch X, following the tradition , which was once laid by the iPhone.
