Americans watched with enthusiasm as lightning struck the Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty in New York was struck by powerful lightning during bad weather.

TimeOut reports this.

Eyewitnesses observed the unexpected event and enthusiastically shared their impressions on social networks. Photos and videos from the scene quickly spread, showing the amazing effect of lightning striking the torch.

Fortunately, no damage was recorded as a result of the strike on the Statue of Liberty, as it was securely grounded. According to the State Capital Parks Department, the statue regularly acts as a lightning rod and is adapted to such incidents.
