Up to four thousand troops will be deployed at a Swiss resort because of Zelensky

Federal Council of Switzerland 22 May issued an order on enhanced security measures during the peace conference on Ukraine (Peace Summit) at the Bürgenstock resort on June 15-16.

As European Pravda writes, this is stated in the council’s message.

To ensure security at the summit, Switzerland will be able to deploy up to four thousand troops who will assist the authorities of the canton of Nidwalden, where Bürgenstock is located.

Such a large number of troops is due to the terrain in the Bürgenstock area and the scale of the operation, as well as the significant number of high-ranking guests, the Swiss Federal Council explained.

According to Swiss law, the deployment of more than two thousand troops must be approved by parliament. But since it will not have time to make a decision before the summit, the Federal Council will present a report to legislators in the fall.

In addition, Switzerland will limit the use of airspace in the Bürgenstock area due to the expected arrival of high-ranking guests protected by international law . The Swiss Air Force will be involved in guarding the skies.

The Global Peace Summit will take place on June 15-16 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. Switzerland invited more than 160 countries and international organizations to it, but not Russia.

According to President Zelensky, Ukraine expects that the summit participants will together draw up an action plan on three points.
