There is a chance that American troops will appear in Ukraine

The Joe Biden administration is getting closer to lifting the actual a ban on the deployment of US military contractors to Ukraine to help the Ukrainian military maintain and repair US-provided weapons systems, CNN reported.

The US withdrew all of its trainers from Ukraine before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022 and categorically excluded a military presence on Ukrainian territory from that time.

As a result, military equipment provided by the United States, which received significant damage in battles, has to be taken out of the country to Poland, Romania or other NATO countries for repair, and the process takes a long time.

Over the past few months, the Biden administration has been re-examining restrictions on contractors in Ukraine in the wake of further Russian troop advances and delays in military aid, CNN sources said.

They emphasized that the decision is still being discussed and has not received final approval from the US President.

But if approved, the Pentagon, for the first time since 2022, will be able to enter into contracts for the deployment of American contractors in Ukraine, who will help with equipment repairs. For example, CNN writes, F-16 fighter jets are expected to require regular repairs once Ukraine starts using them.

One of the sources indicated that American companies that will participate in Pentagon tenders must will develop reliable mechanisms to reduce threats to their employees in Ukraine.
