The Office reboot: bad news for Steve Carell fans

The famous series The Office will soon make its comeback. Unfortunately, Steve Carell has some bad news for fans of the sitcom.

The office saga

In 2001, Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant imagined an office sitcom. The two writers tell the story of the daily life of office workers in a small stationery company. Directed by David Brent, the place is conducive to the evil spirit, dredging and personal failure. After two seasons, The Office is enjoying some success. What grows Ricky Gervais at; produce an American version of the show.

In 2005, Greg Daniels, Paul Lieberstein and Ricky Gervais imagined one of the best modern sitcoms. The Office (US) has become, over time, one of the absolute references of the genre. Led by Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson and even John Krasinski, The Office has become a masterpiece of the genre, once again today acclaimed by many fans.

A new version

The Office will soon make its comeback. Indeed, the Peacock platform ordered a brand new version of The Office. But it won't be a simple reboot. This new version will change setting and characters, this time following the editorial staff of a small local newspaper in the American Midwest. Rican. Filming of this new series, the name of which we do not yet officially know, will begin next July. Side casting, the show will notably bring together Domhnall Gleeson (It's about time) and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus< /em>). Greg Daniels, who has already worked on the series with Steve Carell who will direct this new version.

Unfortunately, Steve Carell fans will be disappointed. Indeed, the interpreter of Michael Scott will not be back in this reboot of The Office. While the cult character said goodbye to viewers during season 7 (despite a return in the series finale), he will not return in this new project. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the 61-year-old actor declared: que:

I'll watch, but I'm not going to come back. It's a new adventure, and I have no reason to be there, nor my character for that matter.

A logical statement therefore, since John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson and Jenna Fischerare not confirmed to return either. The series does not yet have a release date.
