Kharkiv patrol officer received the title of honorary donor of Ukraine

Dmytro Gladchenko/Patrol Police Ukraine

Although regular donors don't donate blood for awards, it's still nice to have them. So recently a man from Kharkiv received the title of honorary donor of Ukraine.

This is reported on the Facebook page of the Patrol Police of Ukraine.

Recently, 88 honored and honorable blood donors of Ukraine were honored at an award ceremony organized by a public organization in Kyiv.

Among them was our patrolman Dmytro Gladchenko, says Facebook.

Dmytro began donating in 2017 and since then has made 49 donations, for which he received the title of honorary donor.

How many times do you have to donate blood to become an Honorary Donor?

According to Clause 1 of Art. 21 of the Law of Ukraine “On the Safety and Quality of Donated Blood and Blood Components” No. 931-Х in the edition of 12.01.2022 (hereinafter referred to as the Law), the status of an Honorary Donor of Ukraine can be obtained by citizens who have submitted free of charge:

    < li>whole blood – 40 doses;
  • blood plasma – 60 doses;
  • blood components collected by the apheresis method (erythrocytes, platelets, leukocytes) – 40 doses.
  • < /ul>

    If it is about the so-called mixed donation, when a person donates both whole blood and its components at different times, one donation of blood is equal to two donations of plasma and one donation of blood components prepared by the apheresis method – according to Clause 4 of Art. 21 of the Law. The time period during which donations are made does not affect the status.

    What benefits does the title of Honorary Donor provide?

    According to Part 5 of Art. 21 of the Law, “Honorary donors of Ukraine have the right to receive a pension supplement in the amount of 10 percent of the approved subsistence minimum per person per month.” This provision expires in 2025, however, persons who received the status of Honorary Donor before 2025 will be entitled to a pension supplement upon reaching the appropriate age. of Kyiv State Administration may establish benefits for Honorary Donors at the expense of local funds, but this is not provided for at the legislative level. Preferential purchase of medicines was also provided for Honorary donors in accordance with the Law of Ukraine “On Donation of Blood and its Components” of 1995, but it became invalid in 2020 due to the introduction of a new law.
