Nolan Arbo – the first person to receive a neuroimplant from Elon Musk's company Neuralink at the end of January 2024 – told in an interview with the Wired publication that he would like to upgrade his device.
Arbo, whose body has been paralyzed below the shoulders for about eight years after the accident, said that he would like to use the chip to learn how to control the robot Optimus and the autopilot system of the Tesla electric car. These capabilities would help 29-year-old Arbo to become independent from the people who care for him.
For now, the young man can perform everyday tasks with the help of his brain implant: for example, turn on music or TV, play video games.
