Finnish customs are investigating a case in which a company from the Eastern Finland region is suspected of smuggling sanctioned electronics to Russia.

According to a preliminary investigation by customs, a company engaged in warehousing in Eastern Finland delivered a significant amount of goods subject to sanctions to Russia between March and December 2022.

The goods that arrived in Finland by airplanes were tried to be taken out via the intermediate warehouse of the company in Eastern Finland by road transport to Russia.

The value of the goods was about 700,000 euros.< /p>

The goods arrived at Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, after which they were transported to the company's warehouse in Virolahti.

The company tried to take the goods from its warehouse to Russia by road through Vaalimaa.

«We conducted more than one hundred inspections of goods in exports carried out by the suspect company. Those exports included electronics subject to sanctions, such as drones, processors, smartphones, computers and fish finders, – reported the head of the investigation, Sanna Kuparinen.

The case is being investigated as a serious crime in the field of regulation.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the goods were mostly purchased in American online stores, and the recipient in Russia was the Russian Post Office .

Seven suspects were questioned during the preliminary investigation. They work in an international forwarding company in managerial and forwarding positions.

As reported by Ukrinform, in Finland, two Russian students suspected of violating sanctions legislation were released from preliminary arrest.
