SpaceX company introduced portable Starlink Mini for $599

SpaceX has released a new terminal for connecting to the Starlink Mini satellite Internet. It's a portable version designed for travel mobility.

Elon Musk's company SpaceX has released the Starlink Mini. Satellite Internet service is already available on boats, airplanes, vans, Amazonian tribes in more than 75 countries, and now it is becoming available to tourists as well. This is reported by The Verge.

The new Starlink Mini has the size of a laptop, an integrated Wi-Fi router and is powered by direct current. Despite the lower power consumption, the terminal provides a data transfer speed of more than 100 Mbps.

Starlink Mini consumes only 20-40 W on average compared to 33-62 W of the older version. Such a terminal can be powered by an ordinary power bank with USB-C PD with a minimum power of 100 W (20 V/5 A).

The Starlink Mini is a compact, portable kit that fits easily in a backpack and is designed to provide high-speed, low-latency Internet on the go, SpaceX says.

The device measures 259 x 259 x 38.5 mm, weighs 1.1 kg and has IP67 protection against dust and rain, including short periods of immersion in water.

The Mini kit costs $599 and the subscription is $30 per month. This gives Starlink Mini users up to 50GB of traffic each month, with the option to buy more at $1 per GB.

Starlink is a project of the American company SpaceX of the billionaire Ilon Musk of communication satellites The system provides access to broadband Internet anywhere in the world.
