Québec solidaire (QS) urges the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, to “protect the population” by imposing a price scale on private clinics.< /p>

It's the wild west in these clinics which offer health services at high prices which are established randomly, the spokesperson denounced on Friday of QS in health, Vincent Marissal.

For example, for the screening of a sexually transmitted and blood-borne infection (STBI), the Costs can range from $60 to $280 depending on the clinic, he illustrated.

During an interview at the Salon Bleu on Friday, Mr. Dubé responded that he was open to better regulating the use of private healthcare.

If your objective is to ensure that we cap prices, we are going to look at how that could be done, because it x27;is done in other provinces, said the minister.

For his part, the Liberal health spokesperson, André Fortin, said he was surprised by QS's approach, which, according to him, risks #x27;increase demand for private services.

QS has however always been against private health, he stressed. We wonder if we should not concentrate here collectively on improving the offer to the public, argued Mr. Fortin.

We are taken with private clinics, justified Vincent Marissal. I am not here to find a way to perpetuate the private offer, he assured. I am here to […] find the least worst solution.
