This critical bug has been widely reported by users on social media, and Google is currently investigating.
After the reset, the phones won't boot and displays a message that reads: “Failed to boot Android. Your data may be corrupted. You may need to perform a factory reset and delete all user data stored on this device “.
The problem was first reported by the Indian resource Tech-Issues Today on the Pixel Help support forum. Users experiencing this problem report an additional error indicating that the tune2fs file, a Unix command-line tool for tuning file systems, is missing.
Although some users attribute this problem to recent software updates, most of the complaints are related to the factory reset procedure. This fault affects all three models of the Pixel 6 line.
Worryingly that even official Google device recovery tools proved ineffective in solving this problem.
A Google representative on the support forum acknowledged the existence of the problem and assured that the company is actively investigating and working on a solution.
