The new documentary by director Oleg Sentsov about the Russian-Ukrainian war will be shown at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic. It is based on a video of an accidentally shot fight.

The documentary “Real” will be presented in the “Special Screenings” program. This was reported by the UP.Kultura publication with reference to the press service of Arthouse Traffic.

The basis of the tape “Real” is one of the battles accidentally filmed on a tactical camera, in which Oleg Sentsov took part, when his armored personnel carrier was hit by the enemy. Then the soldier hid in the nearest trench and, using radio communication, tried to organize the evacuation of part of his unit, which was under fire, almost without ammunition, to a position codenamed Real.

“Real” is not a movie in the classical sense. This is a piece of life during the war, which was filmed by accident, but which shows his true face without embellishments and falsehoods, Oleg Sentsov shared.

The film was created with the support of the European Solidarity Fund for Ukrainian Films, the project “Documentation of Ukraine”. , initiated by the Institute of Humanities (IWM, Vienna), the FILMBOOST program of the Deutsche Filmakademie in cooperation with the NGO “Dokudayz”.
