US Treasury Deputy Secretary will call for new measures to curb circumvention of anti-Russian sanctions

US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury Wally Adeyemo will visit Berlin this week. Purpose of the visit – call on allies to take further action to stop circumvention of Western sanctions against Russia and warn about the severity of the problems associated with China.

A representative of the Ministry of Finance announced the upcoming trip to Reuters on Tuesday, May 28.

In Berlin, Adeyemo will meet with senior officials and business leaders. He will discuss tightening sanctions against Russia, aid to Ukraine and efforts to use frozen Russian assets to benefit Ukraine, according to a statement seen by Reuters.

Adeyemo's goal – state the need for further action to ensure that firms from countries in the sanctions coalition do not supply products that could be used by Russia's military-industrial base and to stop sanctions evasion through third countries.

On At the event, organized jointly by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Atlantik-Brucke company, the deputy head of the Ministry of Finance will say that thanks to the supply of dual-use goods from China, the transition of the Russian economy to a “war footing” has become possible.

Adeyemo will also speak The US Treasury said in a statement about the December decree that threatens sanctions against financial institutions that help Russia circumvent Western sanctions.
