Two years ago, Natalie Portman was convinced by Taika Waititi to return as Jane Foster in the film Thor: Love and Thunder. As she prepares to land in a new series for Apple's streaming platform, the actress has just made an announcement that may well delight all fans of the MCU. p>

Indeed, on July 19, Natalie Portman will be starring in a new series called La Voix du Lac (or Lady in the Lakein original version) which will be broadcast on Apple TV+. In this thriller composed of ten episodes, the plot takes place in Baltimore in the 1960s. It is the adaptation of the novel by Laura Lippman published in 2019 whose plot is inspired by two murders, that of an 11-year-old Jewish girl and a 33-year-old black woman. Natalie Portman will be accompanied by Moses Ingram whom the public had seen in the series Obi-Wan Kenobi. You can also find David Corenswet, who was chosen by James Gunn to play the next Superman but also Noah Jupe (Without a sound) as well as Mikey Madison.

Natalie Portman became known to the general public thanks to her roles in Léonat the age of 12 alongside Jean Reno then in Heat with Al Pacino. But it was thanks to Star Wars and her role as Padmé Amidala played for the first time in The Phantom Menace that she achieved international notoriety. Her career exploded and in 2011, she arrived in the MCU to play scientist Jane Foster in the blockbuster Thor where she shared the poster with Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson and Anthony Hopkins. Two years later, she returns for the sequelThor: The Dark World.

Natalie Portman soon to return to the MCU?

While she does not appear in Taika Waititi's Thor: Ragnarok in 2017, the New Zealand director managed to convince her to return as Jane Foster for Thor: Love and Thunder. Note that for this opus, she was not only Jane Foster, she was also Mighty Thor. The opportunity for the character to find Thor and rekindle their feelings. But the episode offered a tragic end to the character. However, with the post-credits scene, his fate may not be definitively sealed. Besides, Portman addressed the MCU issue in a recent interview.

Interviewed by Total Film in its next issue dedicated to Deadpool & Wolverine, Natalie Portman did not hide her desire to return in the MCU:

I mean, no one asked me. So I do not know. But of course, it was great fun.

The actress explains having enjoyed working with Waititi and Hemsworth as well as Tessa Thompon. It remains to be seen if Marvel plans the return of Jane Foster in the MCU… In the meantime, the next MCU film will be Deadpool & Wolverine scheduled for July 24 in our cinemas strong>.
