In China they are equipping electric bicycles with the Beidou satellite positioning system /></p> <p>The Chinese government calls on manufacturers of electric mopeds and scooters to equip their products with the Beidou satellite positioning system, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China reported.<br />The relevant statement was published by the Xinhua News Agency.</p> <p >According to a document released by the above-mentioned ministry together with two other departments, electric bicycle manufacturers were urged to increase investment in research and development, and produce lightweight, intelligent and networked products to meet consumer demand more effectively.</p> <p>China – the largest manufacturer and user of electric mopeds and scooters with a fleet of 350 million units. However, the ministry said the industry faces a number of challenges, including low concentration of production and weak innovation capabilities.</p> <p>China calls on relevant enterprises to improve safety in all links of the chain, including production, sales, use, charging, as well as recycling scrapped electric bicycles, the department added.</p> <!-- adman_adcode_after --><script async src=
