The wife and brother of King Charles III was awarded Scotland's most honorable award. Queen Consort Camilla and Duke Edward of Edinburgh received the orders during a visit to the country, writes the Daily Express.
We are talking about the Order of the Thistle — it is the most prestigious among knighthoods in Scotland. Members of the royal family were rewarded for their deeds. Not everyone close to the king received this honor. By the way, Charles III himself was also present, as he comes to Scotland every summer for a week, attending a number of events.
The award took place in a private ceremony, where the Order of the Thistle was also presented to a forensic anthropologist, lawyer and professor. They will all receive a royal greeting from the guard of honor, and will also enjoy the anthem from the orchestra.
It is known that it is the king who decides who receives the order, and such an award is considered personal on behalf of the king.
By the way, this is not the first time that a monarch rewards his loved ones. For example, in April, Charles III awarded Kate Middleton the Order of the Knights of Honor. This is the first time in history that a member of the royal family has received the award.
