Genesis Teases Us With New Supercar No One Can Buy

Genesis showed a cool supercar/Genesis

Like Cadillac with its beautiful concepts, Genesis likes to tease us with exciting cars. True, he never plans to sell them.

The latest novelty has an incredibly long name and is the fourth car developed by the luxury brand Hyundai specifically for the racing game Gran Turismo. Say hello to the Genesis X Gran Racer Vision Gran Turismo Concept, writes Motor1.

Unveiled at the 2024 Busan Motor Show in South Korea, the latest concept is essentially a hardcore version of the Genesis X Gran Berlinetta Concept unveiled late last year. It has a more aggressive design with a muscular aerodynamic body, accentuated by a powerful carbon fiber rear wing. The fender vents and rear center rib distinguish it from the road version, as does the mono wiper that crosses the windshield.

The new concept has even more power, as Genesis has updated the hybrid powertrain. The front mid-engine, electrically supercharged V-6 produces 870 horsepower and 790 lb-ft. It spins up to 10,000 rpm and is powered by a 670 hp front electric motor. and 225 lb.-ft. Together, these two engines develop a power of 1540 hp. and 1,051 lb-ft.

Total system output increased by 469 hp. and 65 lb-ft over the previous concept. However, these figures do not have much meaning, since the car exists only in the Gran Turismo configuration and as a full-size model for static demonstration. We certainly wouldn't mind seeing this powerful hybrid setup in a production car, but that's wishful thinking.

The bright orange color was chosen deliberately to link the concept with the Magma line. This is Genesis' new sub-brand, dedicated to sports cars, as evidenced by the equally orange GV60 and G80. Earlier this year, Luke Donkerwolke, Genesis' chief creative officer, told Motor1 that the Magma models won't be as stiff as BMW M, Mercedes-AMG or Audi Sport products.

Compared to last year's concept, Genesis also made some changes inside to better reflect the racing car theme. Cabin transformed into a single-seat cabin with a carbon fiber bucket seat, a fully integrated roll cage and a racing yoke. There are more knobs and buttons for adjusting various settings, for example, the level of traction control intervention.

Genesis has not said when the car will be available to drive in Gran Turismo. The game's June update still isn't out, even though July is only a few days away. Usually these monthly updates bring several free cars.
