The price of electricity for the population has risen in Poland

Since July, the price of electricity for the population has risen in Poland. In order to mitigate the social consequences, the government provided a mechanism for energy vouchers.

As reported by “Polish Radio”, the Energy Regulatory Office announced that in the second half of the year the electricity bill for households whose annual consumption is not exceeds two megawatt-hours, will increase by 27.5 zlotys (about UAH 275) per month.

In return, some households will be able to issue an energy voucher. The editor-in-chief of the Polon.pl portal, Mariusz Marchakowski, said that this mechanism is intended to protect consumers who are most prone to “energy poverty”. 40 zlotys will affect the reduction of living standards. Often, these funds for payment of electricity will be taken from expenses for daily needs, – Marshalkowski added.

According to rough estimates, three and a half million households in Poland will be able to use the energy voucher.
