US Republican Party member Victoria Spartz was charged with violating the rules of carrying weapons. She brought the gun to Washington Dulles International Airport.

A Metropolitan Airports Authority spokesman told CNN.

Victoria Spartz was accused of violating a section of Virginia law — one of the US states that prohibits bringing any weapons, explosives or stun guns into the airline terminal.

— Officers discovered a .380 caliber firearm during a passenger safety check. The firearm was unloaded and in thepersonal carry-on bag, — said a representative of the Transportation Security Administration.

In a statement, the Congressman's Office said that Victoria Spartz allegedly accidentally took an empty pistol without a magazine or bullets from her suitcase.

As noted, she did not suspect that the weapon was in the pocket of her suitcase during a security check at Dulles Airport.

Victoria Spartz then received a subpoena and continued her trip to Europe for a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE PA) .
