A 38-year-old thief was detained in Kyiv who took a phone out of a woman's pocket in one of the shopping centers

To a 38-year-old man from Kyiv, who has numerous convictions for property crimes, faces a long term of imprisonment for stealing a smartphone under martial law.

This is reported by the Kyiv police.

The incident occurred in one from the shopping centers on Obolonsky prospect, where the intruder stole the phone from the coat pocket of a 27-year-old woman. Thanks to the “Safe City” video surveillance system and the operative actions of law enforcement officers, the suspect was detained in less than a day.

The investigators informed the detainee of suspicion under part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – theft under martial law. The stolen gadget was recovered. According to the court's decision, the suspect was taken into custody.

Currently, the police are checking the involvement of the detainee in other similar crimes in the capital.
