The best folding smartphones of 2024: which

The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold smartphone made it to the rating thanks to its bright screen, Galaxy Z Flip 6 — cameras, and the Motorola Razr Plus 2024 thanks to its stylish design.

Among the current foldable phones of 2024 — models from Motorola, OnePlus, Samsung. All the gadgets offer an overall great user experience. A selection of the best “folders” was created by Tom's Guide resource.

OnePlus Open

Technical characteristics:

  • Main screen size: 7.8 inches (2440 x 2268)
  • Additional screen size: 6.3 inches (2484 x 1116)
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
  • RAM/Memory: 16GB/512GB

OnePlus tried to put everything they could into this device, including some amazing cameras. If you want to go even further, you can get the OnePlus Open Apex Edition.

Compared to the base model, the Apex Edition increases the amount of storage and adds some pretty cool AI cropping features to make stickers out of anything you make you photos. It also has a VIP mode that lets you turn off the camera and microphone for a little more privacy.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6

Samsung is probably the most famous phone maker when it comes to folding phones, it knows what it's doing.

Specs:

    < li>Main screen size: 7.6 inches (2160 x 1856)
  • Secondary screen size: 6.3 inches (2376 x 968)
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 3rd generation
  • RAM/Storage: 12GB/256GB, 512GB, 1TB

This is no more evident than with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is an evolution and improvement of the previous Galaxy Z Fold 5 and is our most versatile foldable phone yet. It also offers brighter visual effects and the ability to simulate 2x zoom. In a comparison between the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and the Motorola Razr Plus, it easily came out on top.

Motorola Razr 2024

Motorola may not be the force it once was, but it's still can still make a great phone at a good price.

Specs:

  • Main screen size: 6.9 inches (2640 x 1080)
  • Additional screen size: 3.6 inches (1066 x 1056)
  • Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 7300X
  • RAM/Storage: 8GB/256GB< /li>

This is evident in the Motorola Razr 2024, which is updated in all the right areas over the previous Razr and is easily the best value phone out there. The larger screen offers much more functionality than before and is also brighter.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold Google Pixel 9 Pro

During the test, the phone lasted 11 hours and 36 minutes, which is more than enough to watch or play anything.

Specs:

  • Main screen size: 8 inches (2076 x 2152)
  • Additional screen size: 6.3 inches (1080 x 2424)
  • Processor: Tensor G4
  • RAM/Memory 16 GB/256 GB, 512 GB
  • Google's sophisticated smartphone technology has taken a huge leap in quality with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold after the Pixel Fold. And that's despite Google's clunky new naming conventions. There's a lot to love about the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, especially the much larger and brighter 8-inch main display, which is the main reason it managed to snag a spot on this list.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6

Samsung appears in expert recommendations for the second time, this time with the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

Specs:

  • Size main screen: 6.7 inches (2640 x 1080)
  • Additional screen size: 3.4 inches (720 x 748)
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 3rd generation
  • RAM/Memory: 12GB/256GB, 512GB

There's a lot to love about this little device, firstly its size. The Z Flip 6 looks like any other phone, but it folds horizontally in the middle, making it tiny when folded. That alone might make it the right choice for you, but there's something else that might make you happy.

Motorola Razr Plus 2024

Like other flip phones, the Razr Plus folds into a compact little square, but what makes it stand out is the external screen, which is much larger than other devices.

Specs:

  • Main screen size: 6.9 inches (2640 x 1080)
  • Secondary screen size: 4 inches (1272 x 1080)
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3
  • li>

  • RAM/Memory: 12GB/256GB

Not only is it bigger, but it also offers a lot more features, as you can run any app you like on it, rather than simple widgets like the Galaxy Z Flip series. Plus, you can adjust the screen to mimic the iPhone standby mode with different images and backgrounds when the Razr is in the tent position.

Nubia Flip 5G

Nubia Flip 5G — it's a bit of a surprise from a lesser-known company, but it's easily the cheapest foldable phone you can buy right now at a staggering $499. It's a great starter device for those who don't want to spend too much.

Specs:

  • Main screen size: 6.9 inches (2790 x 1188)
  • Additional screen size: 1.4 inches (466 x 466)
  • Processor: Snapdragon 7 Gen 1
  • RAM/Storage: 8GB, 12 GB/256GB, 512GB

We found battery life so-so in our day-to-day use, but at least the Nubia Flip 5G offers brisk 33W charging that can quickly recharge the phone's battery.
