Russian students arrested in Finland for sanctions evasion released from custody

The third Russian student detained in Finland on suspicion of sanctions evasion has been released from custody. He is banned from leaving the country, he is suspected of exporting dual-purpose goods to Russia.

Russian citizens who were detained in Finland at the end of April on suspicion of evading sanctions have been released from custody. This is reported by Yle.

“The third Russian student, suspected of a serious organized crime, was released from custody. According to the district court, instead of imprisonment, the man is now prohibited from leaving the country,” the publication writes.

It is noted that he is suspected of being part of a group that exported from Finland to Russia so-called dual-use goods that can be used for military purposes.

Also, the publication adds, that three Russian students were detained in May. Two were released from custody in the summer.
