Tom Hardy reunites with Guy Ritchie for a gangster series

Since his appearance in Steven Spielberg's series Band of Brothers, British actor Tom Hardy has become one of Hollywood's most sought-after stars. If his role in the Venom trilogy does not illustrate the immensity of his talent and charisma, the London actor has worked for some very big directors: Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Dark Knight, Dunkirk), George Miller (Mad Max: Fury Road), Alejandro Gonzalez Iñarritu (The Revenant), Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson). He has also become one of the favorite actors of Steven Knight, one of the main British showrunners, with whom he worked on the film Lockebefore playing the role of Alfie Solomons from season 2 of Peaky Blinders and James Delaney in Taboo.

While we wonder about his presence in the film Peaky Blinders(whose casting is very appealing), we learn in Deadline that Tom Hardy will play the role of a new mobster in the series The Associate. Produced by Paramount+, this new series will be directed by Guy Ritchie, with whom Hardy has already worked on the film RocknRolla (2008). Tom Hardy, who will play the lead role, will star opposite Irish actor Pierce Brosnan and British actress Helen Mirren. The synopsis has already been revealed:

Featuring Europe's most powerful clients, the series will see family fortunes and reputations threatened, strange alliances formed and betrayals lurking around every corner. While the family may be London's elite fixers today, the nature of their business means there is no guarantee what tomorrow will bring.

While obviously the presence of Tom Hardy gives a certain cachet to this new series, The fact that it is directed by Guy Ritchie is one more reason to look forward to it. It should be remembered that the English director, who has directed eight films since 2019, seems to have rediscovered with The Gentlemen the passion of his first films, Lock, Stock and Bone and Snatch. He also wrote, produced and partly directed the series The Gentlemen for Netflix. Praised by critics and audiences alike, the series has been renewed for a second season and is considered one of Netflix's best productions in 2024. We hope that The Associate will experience the same fate!
