Venom 3: This antagonist will return in other Marvel films

On October 30, the third and final adventure of Venom will be released in French theaters. But then, what will be next for Sony's Spider-Man Universe (SSU) and more specifically for Venom? Well, apparently, things aren't going to stop with The Last Dance.

Venom 3: This Antagonist Will Return in Other Marvel Movies

Venom 3: The Release Is Getting Closer

In 2018, Venomexplodes the box office. With more than 856 million dollars in revenue, this first Venom is a success for Sony. The film directed by Ruben Fleischer also has another goal: to launch the SSU in theaters. Produced by Sony, this connected universe aims to develop the Spider-Man universe but… without Spider-Man. The firm thus capitalizes on the universe of the web-slinger and on his worst enemies, without developing Peter Parker. In addition to Venom, three other films have been released: Venom – Let There Be Carnage, Morbius and Madame Web. And other projects are expected like Kraven the Hunter and Venom: The Last Dance.

Scheduled for October 30 in French theaters, Venom: The Last Dance concludes the trilogy led by Tom Hardy. Directed by Kelly Marcel, the feature film has the difficult task of making us forget the critical and popular failure of Venom: Let There Be Carnage. As a reminder, this second Venom had met with particularly bad reviews and had only brought in “$506 million at the box office.

What's next?

But one question remains. What will happen after Venom 3? At the moment we don't really know if Tom Hardy has finished his contract with Sony and whether or not he plans to return to the role of Venom. Kelly Marcel, who is directing the third installment of the saga, has been involved in the development of the Venom franchise since the first film. She is co-writer of the first installment, writer of the second and was catapulted to the making this third one. In an interview with IGN, Kelly Marcel discussed what's next, and hinted that the Venom sequel could revolve around Knull:

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

We’re getting into spoiler territory here, and hopefully part of the fun of the movie will be not knowing what’s going to happen. But trust me, we know how important Knull is to fans, and just as we laid the groundwork for Venom, we hope we do the same with Knull. The King in Black is far too powerful to be here. only once.

Knull will be one of the antagonists of this Venom 3.In the comics, Knull is the creator of the Symbiotes. Created in 2018, Knull is an ancient primordial God. He is a cosmic entity that lives in the Dark Realm. In addition to the Symbiotes, Knull also created the Necrosword, which is wielded by Gorr in Thor: Love and Thunder. There are many rumors surrounding Knull's importance in Venom 3, and especially in the sequel to the Marvel Universe. It is rumored that Knull could play a central role in the SSU and could even appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), potentially in Spider-Man 4. One thing is for sure, Knull should be the Thanos of the SSU, as Kelly Marcel always explains:

This film introduces Knull, but that only touches on the beginning of his story. Marvel's best villains are developed over time. Here, Knull is the lurking threat that will test the absolute limits of Eddie and Venom's relationship. But it's their relationship that remains the heart of the story.

The director also confirmed once again that Venom 3would bring some kind of closure to Eddie Brock's journey:

From the beginning, Tom and I envisioned a story told in three parts, and that this story would culminate in a third film for reasons you will discover. As fans know, there are many, many other stories with the symbiotes. The universe is vast and rich, and a single film could not have done justice to Knull. Beyond this trilogy, there are other stories to explore. God is coming.

So there is no longer any doubt: Knull is the future of the SSU. In any case, all we hope is that Venom: The Last Dance will be more convincing than the two previous parts and will make us forget the nausea that the second film gave us…
