The American chain of fast food restaurants McDonald's launched a creative advertising company in the Netherlands. They placed billboards that spread the smell of the brand's popular dishes on the street.

McDonald's put up red and yellow billboards without the logo or other images in two cities in the Netherlands. Next to them, you can feel the smell of French fries.

McDonald's is known for its visual distinctive features. However, this is the first time the company has done such a marketing move.

Smell has been proven to generate vivid and emotional memories more effectively than images. By incorporating this feeling into our advertising, we found a new way to remind people of the good times at McDonald's, commented the company's advertisement, McDonald's marketing manager Stein Mentrop-Houliselaan.

The smell from the billboards could be felt about 5 meters away. They were placed 200 meters from McDonald's restaurants, thus encouraging passers-by to enter the establishment and order the brand's products.
