Velika Britain is not ready for full-scale war: the general's statement

Great Britain may not be fully prepared for full-scale war alone, suggested Major General James Martin, writes The Telegraph.

According to him, the British army is trying to “return to the right direction” after years of focusing on counterinsurgency, which left her “in the process of losing skills” for a full-scale campaign. It is noted that the size of the army has reached the smallest size in the last 300 years, and ammunition stocks have also been reduced.

“In the conditions of the war in Ukraine and the threat from Russia to the rest of Europe, the army has switched its attention to readiness for war , and this week thousands of British troops were in western Poland as part of NATO's biggest military exercises since the Cold War.”, – says the publication.

According to Martin, now the British army is getting back “on the right track”. He assured that British soldiers are still the best in the world, but added that equipping them to fight a long war “requires a lot of effort”.

At the same time, the general added that Great Britain is strong enough , in order to make a large contribution to NATO.

As you know, Britain actively supports Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression.

Recall that British Foreign Minister David Cameron during his visit to Kyiv on May 3 directly stated that he is ready to authorize strikes on Russian territory with weapons provided by London.
