"Matrix"/Warner Bros.

The film company Warner Bros. announced the release of the fifth film “The Matrix”. The screenwriter and director of the tape will be the screenwriter of “The Martian” Drew Goddard.

This will be the first film in the saga, which will not be directed by either Lana or Lilly Wachowski. Variety writes about it.

Lana Wachowski will be the executive producer of the film. It is not yet known whether Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss, who played Neo and Trinity in all four films of the franchise, will return to their roles. Variety writes that “the story will move further into the world of fantasy, without departing from the basis that made the film series successful.”

Drew came to Warner Bros. with a new idea that we believe will be an incredible way to continue the world of The Matrix, honoring what Lana and Lilly started over 25 years ago, added the studio president of Warner Bros. Jesse Ehrman.

What stage of development the film is currently in is also not yet known.
