SpaceX has introduced a compact antenna Starlink Mini for satellite Internet

SpaceX has for the first time presented official images of the Starlink Mini satellite dish, which will be available to customers in a few months. The company has released an update to the Starlink app that provides information about the upcoming product. The attached images confirm that the novelty will be a more compact version of the standard satellite "dish" Starlink V4. According to the FCC, the Mini Dish is comparable in size to an Apple MacBook.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk ( Elon Musk) commented on the situation, writing on the X social network: "I just installed it [the Starlink Mini antenna] right now and am writing this post through space. It took less than 5 minutes [to install]. Easy to carry in a backpack. This product will change the world.

In another announcement, Musk promised that the Starlink Mini would cost “about half the price of a standard dish,” which suggests a price between $250 and $300. In the US, the company now sells the larger standard Starlink V4 antenna for $499.

According to Musk, the Starlink Mini provides download speed of 100 Mbps and download speed of 11.5 Mbps with a relatively low latency of 23 milliseconds. The novelty works slower compared to the standard Starlink V4 antenna, but its speed is enough to meet everyday Internet needs, including 4K streaming.

SpaceX is preparing to offer a mini antenna “in select areas in a few months”. According to Musk, "Mini can be a great low-cost option for a good backup Internet connection if the main line fails".
