On May 20, Spanish Defense Minister Margarita Robles announced the dispatch of a second batch of Leopard tanks, as well as other military assistance to Ukraine.
European Pravda reports this. with reference to the words of Margarita Robles during the 22nd meeting of the Contact Group on Defense of Ukraine (Ramstein format).
In her speech at the meeting, Robles reaffirmed Spain's commitment to “continue to provide the support it deserves Ukraine and what it needs most urgently,” given the critical situation at the front.
She announced the shipment of a second batch of Leopard tanks to Kiev, which will take place at the end of June, as well as artillery ammunition of 155 mm caliber and a new batch of Patriot anti-aircraft missiles, as well as anti-drone systems, optical-electronic surveillance systems, and the like.
According to the head of the Spanish Ministry of Defense, Ukraine will receive a new package of military assistance through the contribution of the Spanish defense industry.
Robles separately noted that Spain intends to sign a bilateral security agreement with Ukraine in the future.
Back in March, the media reported that Madrid was preparing a batch of 19 Leopard 2A4 tanks for Kyiv. Officially, the head of the Spanish Ministry of Defense did not name either the quantity or type of tank that Ukraine will receive.
