Scammers call and pretend to be bank employees or mobile phone employees.
Then, they lure out confidential information, and as a result, they embezzle the funds of gullible Ukrainians, writes the City Hall with reference to the regional police.
A 57-year-old resident of the Kalusa district became the victim of this type of fraud. The scammer used the scheme “Your mobile phone number is expiring”. According to the applicant, a man called her mobile phone, introduced himself as a mobile operator and assured her that the woman's phone number was about to expire. In order to extend it, she had to enter a combination of numbers that came in the message.
Believing the scammer, the victim followed all the instructions. Later, at the bank branch, the victim found out that a credit account had been opened in her name, from which the scammers had transferred money in the amount of 52,000 hryvnias.
