We know how much we will pay for Christmas carp. Experts have spoken out

How much will we have to pay for Christmas carp this year?

Carp is a fish that cannot be missed on the Christmas Eve table. As the “Goniec” portal reminds us, in recent years the price of carp has made customers' hearts beat faster. Will it be the same this year? Experts have spoken out.

Carp prices have been skyrocketing in recent years

The increase in carp prices is something we have become accustomed to in recent years. The price depended on the type of carp processing. For an uneviscerated fish, you had to pay around PLN 22 per kilogram. It was slightly cheaper in some discount stores, where you could buy carp for as little as PLN 16 per kilogram.

If you wanted to buy a gutted fish, its price rose to around PLN 30 per kilogram. As “Fakt” recalls, you had to pay about PLN 10 more for a carp fillet with skin. Customers paid PLN 50 per kilogram for a cut fillet.

For those who were hoping that carp would be cheaper this year, experts have some bad news. It certainly won't be cheaper than last year. How much will we have to pay for this Christmas delicacy?

How much will we pay for carp in 2024 year?

According to Marian Tomala from the Przybor Fisheries Farm, carp prices this year will remain at a similar level to last year's. “A kilogram of carp may have a price in the range of twenty to twenty-five zlotys, which is similar to last year,” said the expert quoted by “Goniec”.

Anna Kuśmierczak-Kucei from the “Bełżec” Fisheries Farm in Roztocze also presents similar forecasts. She adds that the carp that will end up on Poles' tables this year will also last for three years. “Carp grows for three years, this is the breeding system that has not changed for centuries. We do not want to speed up nature,” the expert noted.

On your Christmas Eve tables too carp reigns?
