Ukrainian convicted of selling grenade launchers via the Internet and mail

In support of the public prosecution by the prosecutors of the Shevchenko District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv, the court announced a guilty verdict against a 41-year-old Kyiv resident who illegally purchased, stored and subsequently sold ammunition and explosive devices (Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation established that the 41-year-old attacker established a scheme for the illegal sale of hand-held anti-tank grenade launchers in the capital through specialized websites.

After agreeing on the cost and delivery terms, receiving an advance payment, the defendant sent the «goods» through popular post offices.

Law enforcement officers conducted 2 operational purchases during which the defendant's sale of industrially manufactured RPG AT-4 anti-tank rocket-propelled grenades was documented.

During the trial, the defendant pleaded guilty and repented of his actions.

By the verdict of the Desnyanskyi District Court of Kyiv, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years and 1 month in prison.

The defendant will be in custody until the verdict becomes final.
