Former President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday, October 19, Netanyahu's office reported on Sunday, October 20.
"Prime Minister Netanyahu confirmed that he said publicly: Israel takes into account the issues raised by the US administration, but will ultimately make decisions based on its national interests," – the report said, Reuters reported.
Later, speaking to reporters in Philadelphia, Trump said he had a “very pleasant conversation” with Netanyahu on Saturday. He said the Israeli leader asked his opinion on what to do about Iran, as Israel plans a response to Tehran's recent missile strikes.

Meanwhile, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin spoke with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Saturday to discuss adjustments to the U.S. military posture, including the recent deployment of a missile defense system to bolster Israel's defense against regional threats.
The conversation was reported Sunday by the Pentagon.
The Pentagon statement also said Austin expressed relief that the drone attack on Netanyahu failed and that the Israeli prime minister was safe after the attack on his home in Caesarea.
