Trump called Chinese AI assistant DeepSeek a “wake-up call” for American technology

US President Donald Trump said that the release of the AI assistant DeepSeek by a Chinese company should be a «wake-up call» for US tech. This is reported by The Guardian.
The DeepSeek application, which was launched last week, has become the most popular in the App Store. It competes with products from leading American companies like OpenAI, but it costs a lot less.

He added that the application «should«be a wake-up call for American industries» and that the United States needs «to focus on competition to win».
«Because we have the best scientists in the world. We always have ideas. We are always first. We are going to unleash our technology companies and dominate the future like never before», — said the US president.
On January 27, DeepSeek was taken down by a massive cyberattack. The little-known company that developed the app limited new registrations to phone numbers from China, effectively shutting out users from other countries.
