TPMP: end clap for the show, Cyril Hanouna and Canal+ separate

This summer, it was already a bolt from the blue when the public learned that Arcom had decided not to renew the TNT frequency of the C8 channel on which Cyril Hanouna officiates by presenting the show Touche Pas à Mon Poste. Today, a new tsunami: the channel's star presenter and C8 have begun negotiations for a breakup.

Cyril Hanouna and C8, the end of twelve years of collaboration

After Arcom's decision to not renew C8's TNT frequency, the media season was particularly turbulent. Cyril Hanouna, back to presenting the show Touche Pas à Mon Poste, had decided to attack the PAF policeman by announcing that he wanted to sue the audiovisual regulator by filing a complaint.

The channel of the group belonging to Vincent Bolloré will no longer be able to broadcast on Digital Terrestrial Television from February 28, 2025 if the C8 executives fail to win their case after the various appeals they wish to initiate so that Arcom reverses its decision. But according to information from the Parisien, the future between Cyril Hanouna and C8 would be sealed. The two parties have started discussions for the separation.

The end of TPMP could even occur before the end of C8

Indeed, after a twelve-year collaboration, Cyril Hanouna and Canal+ are almost over! The daily explains that a person close to the case declared that “the Canal+ group will broadcast the daily show until February 28, 2025 but not beyond“.

This date is not insignificant since it is the one on which C8 must no longer broadcast on TNT. Worse, the live show hosted every day by Cyril Hanouna on C8 could even end well before this date.

Indeed, still according to information from the newspaper Le Parisien, the months of January and February are very quiet months in terms of advertising revenue. According to the person close to the matter, he does not see “the point of starting again at the beginning of January with a net loss“. Thus, C8 should take advantage of the last two months that it has left to exist in the French audiovisual landscape to clear out and broadcast programs that are in production or that are awaiting broadcast.

The divorce is not surprising between Hanouna and Bolloré. The latter would hold the host responsible for the excesses of TPMP that have generated record financial fines from Arcom. As a reminder, Cyril Hanouna's talk show generated more than 7.6 million euros in fines in the space of 8 years. On the other hand, it's a safe bet that the public will find the host on another channel or on another platform.
