Changes coming for season 4 of The Witcher on Netflix

Among the Netflix series that have allowed the platform to gain notoriety, we will think in particular of Stranger Things, but also of Squid Game, Wednesday or even The Bridgerton Chronicle, to name a few.

But there are other series that have also been widely talked about, but not necessarily for the right reasons. This is particularly the case with The Witcher. Launched in 2019, the series is loosely inspired by the literary saga The Witcher by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski. itself became very popular in large part thanks to the famous video game series The Witcher developed by CD Projekt.

Starring Henry Cavill in the title role, the Netflix series had managed to seduce a large part of the public at its beginnings. But over the seasons, many began to question the direction taken by the streaming giant, criticizing among other things a lack of fidelity to the original universe. This is one of the reasons why Cavill finally decided to leave the project after season 3, and Liam Hemsworth will replace him in the following season.

And it seems that Cavill is not the only one to be absent in season 4, since another character will also be recast for the next season. Indeed, as reported by the site Redanian Intelligence, it is Vesemir, the leader of the Witchers introduced in season 2 and played until now by Kim Bodnia, who will change interpreter. The character should apparently be present in season 4 of The Witcher, but it will no longer be Bodnia who will lend him his features. For the moment, we do not yet know who will replace the Danish actor in this role.

According to RadioTimes, one of Bodnia's spokespersons reportedly said the following on the matter:

Kim will not be returning to the role of Vesemir because his current schedule did not fit in with Netflix's filming schedule for The Witcher season 4.

So it seems that it's more a matter of scheduling here than any actual disagreements with the creative team. It remains to be seen what other surprises The Witcher season 4 has in store for us, with a release date yet to be announced. communicated for the moment.
