French citizens will vote on June 30 in the first round of early parliamentary elections, which could bring the first far-right government in another world war to power.
French President Emmanuel Macron has voted in the early parliamentary elections in disarray after the defeat of his party in the elections to the European Parliament in June. Election polls in France open at 9:00 from Kyiv and will work until 19:00 (in small cities) and 21:00 (in large cities). After the closing of the remaining chamber, the first exit polls are underway.
The French will elect 577 deputies to the National Assembly – lower house of parliament. The country has a majoritarian electoral system, under which a candidate wins only by winning an absolute majority of votes.
If this is not the case, another round is held (in France it is scheduled for July 7). All candidates who received less than 12.5% of registered voters' votes in the first round will take part in it. The one who gets the most votes wins.
The poll of the public council shows that the ultra-right “National Association” is clearly in the lead with 33-36% of the voters' votes, in another place – left coalition” New People's Front” from 28-31%. Macron's centrist alliance could grow by 20-23%.
What is “National Union” will have an absolute majority in the National Assembly, France could for the first time since the 1990s have a situation where the president and the government are in different political camps.
The French far right has already demanded the return of the French contribution to the EU budget, caused a dispute with the EU over jobs and rejected Macron's calls for greater EU unity and proactivity in defense matters.
