On the evening of January 18, the Chinese social network for creating and distributing videos and online broadcasts TikTok stopped working in the US, despite the fact that the official ban was supposed to come into effect on January 19. This was reported by CNN.
It is noted that the application became unavailable to American residents two hours before the Supreme Court ban was supposed to come into effect. The social network also disappeared from the AppStore and GooglePlay.
According to media reports, the outage also affected other applications of ByteDance, which is TikTok's parent company, such as CapCut.
When users entered the application, they saw a message: “Sorry, TikTok is currently unavailable. The US has passed a law banning TikTok. Unfortunately, this means that you cannot use TikTok yet.”
At the same time, the message indicated that US President-elect Donald Trump made it clear that he would work with the company on a solution to restore TikTok when he takes office.
The TikTok mobile application was used by 170 million Americans.
