The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award) was established by the Swedish government in 2002, after the death of the famous writer, in order to promote the development of children's and youth literature.

It is awarded every year. The prize fund is SEK 5 million (over UAH 16 million). Laureates of the award can be writers, illustrators, librarians or organizations from all over the world, regardless of language or nationality.
