Three Ukrainian children's writers were nominated for the prestigious Astrid Lindgre Award

Ukrainian authors Galina Vdovichenko, Sashko Dermanskyi and Ivan Andrusiak have entered the long list of nominees for the 2025 Astrid Lindgren Memorial Prize. In total, 265 candidates from 72 countries of the world are applying for the award.

The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award (The Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award) was established by the Swedish government in 2002, after the death of the famous writer, in order to promote the development of children's and youth literature.

It is awarded every year. The prize fund is SEK 5 million (over UAH 16 million). Laureates of the award can be writers, illustrators, librarians or organizations from all over the world, regardless of language or nationality. Their works must have a high artistic level and correspond to the humanistic ideals and values ​​that Lindgren's work demonstrates.
