Three new F-35As arrived in Denmark

The Royal Danish Air Force received three new F-35A multipurpose fighters.

The Ministry of Defense of the country informed about this.

It is reported that the fighters arrived at Skridstrup Air Base on January 12, bringing the total fleet of these combat vehicles to 11 aircraft.

The new trio took off from the US Luke Air Force Base in Arizona and had a stopover in the Azores Islands in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Danish Ministry of Defense details that the remaining 6 aircraft will remain in Arizona for pilot and maintenance training.

Recall that the previous batch of four F-35A arrived in Denmark in early December.

Danish contract for F-35A

Denmark has purchased 27 F-35 multi-role fighters to replace its fleet F-16.

The last American-made aircraft are scheduled to be delivered to the Danish Air Force in 2026. All of them will be based at Skrydstrup Air Base, where the necessary infrastructure has already been created.

Denmark has been participating in the F-35 fifth-generation fighter development program since 1997. Based on the results of an assessment conducted in 2013-2016, on May 12, 2016, the country's government recommended the purchase of at least 27 F-35A aircraft to replace the F-16.

In 2017, the Danish Parliament approved the budget for the implementation of the program, designed until 2026.

Denmark received its first F-35A on April 7, 2021 at Lockheed Martin. The fifth and sixth aircraft were accepted in July 2022, and the seventh aircraft was announced in May 2023.

Initially, the Danish F-35s are being deployed at a base in Arizona, USA, where training of pilots and ground personnel of the Danish Air Force continues.
