Tens of thousands of protesters, led by students, rallied outside the headquarters of state broadcaster RTS in the Serbian capital Belgrade on Friday, protesting what they said was the broadcaster's pro-government bias.
As Ukrinform reports, the Associated Press reports.
One of the largest demonstrations in recent years has been against the pro-government bias of Serbian broadcaster RTS and is part of broader protests that began after part of the roof collapsed at the train station in the city of Novi Sad.
The protesters expressed outrage that the state broadcaster is broadcasting statements by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who claims that the students received funds from foreign intelligence services and were supposed to overthrow him and the government by force. During the rally, the protesters blew whistles.
The demonstrators observed a minute of silence for each of the 15 victims of the train station roof collapse. They also chanted demands for a nationwide general strike.
The rally came a day after one of the students was seriously injured when a car drove into a crowd of protesters.
As Ukrinform reported, on January 1, thousands of students marched in the Serbian capital Belgrade and two other cities in protests demanding that those responsible for the destruction of part of the roof of the train station in the city of Novi Sad be held accountable.
