The wife of actor George Clooney recommended that the ICC prosecutor seek the arrest of Netanyahu and the Hamas leader

George Clooney's wife Amal was one of the legal experts who recommended that the chief prosecutor of the main international war crimes court (ICC) seek arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and leaders of the militant group Hamas.

< p>The human rights lawyer and wife of actor George Clooney announced her participation in a letter published on the website of the Clooney Family Foundation for Justice, reports  Associated Press.

She said she and other international law experts had reached a unanimous decision to recommend that International Criminal Court Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan seek the warrants.

Khan announced his intention seek warrants to be issued on Monday, May 20. According to him, the actions of the leaders of Israel and Hamas during the seven-month war in the Gaza Strip amounted to war crimes.

"I served on this commission because I believe in the rule of law and the need to protect civilians< /em>, – Clooney wrote. – The law protecting civilians during war was developed more than 100 years ago, and applies in any country, regardless of the causes of the conflict..
