The United States and Poland have signed a contract under which Washington will supply Warsaw with a batch of JASSM-ER missiles worth $735 million. The agreement was announced on Tuesday, May 28, by Polish Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh.
"Today we signed a contract worth $735 million, another multimillion-dollar contract, for the purchase of “class” missiles. ;air-to-ground"",– Kosiniak-Kamysz said at a press conference on Tuesday, reports Reuters.
According to the Polish Ministry of Defense, the range of the missiles is about 1,000 kilometers.
This year, Warsaw will spend about 4% of its gross domestic product, and last week announced an agreement with the United States for a $960 million air surveillance system to monitor the northeastern border.
BAGNET notes that Poland is spending significant amounts of money to strengthen its armed forces in the face of Russia's ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
