US Ambassador to Russia Lynn Tracy, answering questions from journalists about cooperation between the United States and Russia in the fight against terrorism after the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert hall, noted that after terrorist attack, the United States continued to share available information with Russian intelligence services at the direct request of Russia, the US Embassy in the Russian Federation reported in its official Telegram channel.
Tracy said that the United States did this to facilitate the investigation and intends to do so in the future .
“Despite our very real and deep differences with the Kremlin, the United States believes that Russian citizens have the right to live in safety and dignity, protected from the threat of terrorism and unjust persecution, including for exercising their rights to freedom of speech and assembly,” – the US Embassy in Russia quotes the ambassador.
On March 22, 2024, a group of armed people broke into the Crocus City Hall concert hall. on the outskirts of Moscow, shot people and set fire to a building. As a result of the terrorist attack, more than 140 people were killed and more than 500 were injured. The Islamic State, a recognized terrorist group, claimed responsibility for the attack.
In early March, US intelligence agencies provided Russian authorities with “clear, detailed information” about the attack. about the threat of a terrorist attack against large gatherings and concerts in Moscow, the day before the US Embassy in Russia published a message to US citizens about a possible threat of a terrorist attack, the White House noted earlier.
But despite the warnings received, Moscow called the information from the American intelligence services “intent to intimidate and destabilize” Russian society and after the terrorist attack tried to accuse Ukraine and the West of involvement in the terrorist attack.
The United States accused Russia of spreading disinformation about the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall concert hall; a State Department representative said on March 28 that“Putin and his team are using a national tragedy to justify an illegal war against Ukraine.”.
