The technical characteristics of the innovative underwater anti-mine drone K-STER have been revealed

NATO signed a contract for €  60 million with the company Exail Robotics Belgium for the development of special underwater drones K-STER, designed to neutralize sea mines. Naval drones will be supplied to the Belgian and Dutch navies. This is part of the program to modernize the anti-mine capabilities of these countries, reports Army Inform.

K-STER C — disposable underwater drone, similar to a torpedo, designed to destroy mines. The drone is equipped with a cumulative charge that effectively destroys various types of mines and increases the maneuverability of the device. The K-STER CT version is designed for training purposes and has an inert warhead for safe military training.

The K-STER underwater drone has a mass of 50 kg and a length of 1.5 meters. Its feature is the ability to rotate the nose compartment, which provides the optimal angle of impact on the ammunition. The drone is equipped with a lithium-ion battery and four motors, and control is carried out through a fiber optic cable.

The newest drones are already in use in the Navy of Belgium and the Netherlands, and also in the defense forces of about 20 countries of the world — this testifies to their high efficiency in fighting against underwater threats.
