The star of the series “Game of Thrones” starred in a film by a Ukrainian producer

The famous Irish actor Aidan Gillen, the star of the popular TV series “Sharp Cartouches” and “Game of Thrones”, played one of the main roles in the large-scale international film project “Duel” directed by Lukasz Palkowski. /p>

This is a historical thriller created in a Polish-Irish-Ukrainian co-production. One of the film's co-producers is Ukrainian Serhiy Lavrenyuk. Screen Daily writes about it.

The plot of the film is based on real events and tells about a Polish pianist who is arrested after the Russian invasion of eastern Poland in 1939. Gillen plays a Soviet agent who meets a pianist.

It is especially touching, since we are documenting such an important period in the history of Poland and Europe, – said Gillen, presenting his work. – We strive to present an epic, exciting and very tense drama… This project is important because of the events of the past, which still resonate loudly today.

The actor noted that it was an honor for him to work with Polish, Irish and Ukrainian colleagues, and concluded his address with the words “Glory to Ukraine!”, showing support for the Ukrainian co-creators of the film.

Popular Ukrainian actors Viktor Zhdanov and Darya Polunina also took part in the filming. The costume department was headed by Ukrainian costume designer Gala Otenko.

“Duel” is a Polish-Irish-Ukrainian co-production of the companies Bow & Ax Entertainment by Marek Novovejski, Dublin's Samson Films Collins and the Solar Media Entertainment film company of Ukrainian producer Serhii Lavrenyuk. Solar Media Entertainment previously filmed “Lessons of tolerance”, “Egregor”, “11 children from Morshin”, etc.

The budget of the film is 7.3 million euros. The tape was financed by the Polish National Film Archive, the Polish Podkarpackie Regional Film Fund, DI Factory, the Polish Film Institute, the Ministries of Culture and National Heritage, the Media Virtuosa Foundation, as well as Screen Ireland and an Irish tax credit. The rights to the film are owned by the Polish company Monolith Films.
